Analisette helped Adrine out of the taxi in front of the apartment building. "You got it baby,"She said letting him go to hold open the door for him. "Yeah I'm good mami,"He said holding his arm that was in a sling closer to his body, careful not to let it hit anything. His shoulder was bound but any movement of his arm sent shock waves straight to the wound. Adrine was lucky to have Analisette by his side throughout the whole experience. Adrine loved how she even told off a nurse who was being too rough, it was nice to know she cared it had been too long since anyone cared for him the way Analisette did. Analisette and Adrine entered the lobby of the building then walked over to the elevator and seen a flyer had been torn down. "I wonder why they ripped it off,"Analisette said curiously. Adrine smiled,"Probably those stupid party guys again with their big booty women showing everything just to get people to come out.Rudolf nearly beat them with a baseball bat the last time they covered the place in flyer's." They both laughed then entered the elevator. Adrine looked over at Analisette who was holding way to many things in her arms and said,"Promise you'll hold me like that when I'm better." She smiled then replied,"Are you sure, I'm sweating bullets and I'm getting dirty with all these plant jars your friends dropped off?" Adrine moved in closer to her,"That's how I like my women, sweaty and dirty." Analisette smiled at his come on,"Mr.Perez you need to get better you cant be thinking about that." Adrine frowned. "At least until we know your limits."She said hoping that would cheer him up. Adrine smiled,"How do you expect me to learn my limits if we don't do a few test runs?" Analisette laughed,"Good point." The elevator doors opened and they both noticed as they walked down the hallway that there was a card inside each door frame. Analisette grabbed it and opened Adrines door, then helped him inside. Settling him down on his very large recliner she handed him the TV remote,"Please, anything but sports,"she said with a smile. Adrine began to channel surf then stopped on the food channel. Analisette put all his belongings in there proper places then sat down on a stool in the kitchen and looked on with Adrine. "Today darlin' we will be makin' some good ol' pecan pie with these fresh pecans I got at the local farmers market. But first were gonna' watch how my day at the farmers market went." The woman with a country accent on the television said. "Babe?"Adrine called. "Yeah baby whats up?"Analisette replied. "Are you as hungry as I am watching this crazy country lady?"Adrine said then laughed. "Hell yeah lets order something."Analisette replied. "There's a phone book under the sink in the cabinet, order whatever im buying." Analisette walked over to the cabinet and grabbed the New City telephone book then flipped to the restaurant section. Making a selection and getting Adrines order she called."Royal Panda Chinese food." a woman answered. "Hi, I'd like an order for delivery[Analisette noticed the card she neglected to read]I would like an order of sweet and sour chicken with white rice[she opened it and there was a picture of a man]and an order of spare ribs and pork fried rice no veggies[The card read "the funeral for our neighbor Charlie..."]can you tell me the total?" "Yes it is 20.44,give about an hour." Analisette looked over the card again then asked,"Adrine, was Minerva's husbands name Charlie?" Adrine stood up,"Yes,Why?" Holding the card in her hand she handed it to Adrine.Adrine read the card quickly. They both looked at each other in shock...
Clifford Baxtor ran inside the funeral home looking for where Charlie was placed. "Can I help you son?" an old man with artificial black hair asked Clifford. "I'm looking for my cousin Charlies service?" Clifford replied catching his breath. The old man looked down then in his eyes,"Your late, but we haven't moved him. We're about to close up,but I'm going to give you fifteen minutes.I'm sorry for your loss and i wish i could give you more time but he needs to be moved for his burial tomorrow morning." Clifford wiped a tear from his eye and asked where he was then headed toward that direction. The room was filled with vibrant bouquets and arrangements, many chairs all empty filled the room. Clifford began to walk toward the casket holding back his tears with all his might. Until Finally he was before him,"Damn cuz,you went too soon. You had just talked to me that you were going to make changes. I knew you were going to do it. This sucks. Quinten called me,told me you named me to handle the business. All the business, including taking care of your daughters and wife. I don't know how I'm going to do that,I wish you were here to tell me.They don't even know me, but i promise i will figure it out cuz. i love you so much man.Give Tia Manuella a big kiss for me alright." Clifford bent down and kissed his cousins cold lifeless face, then exited the room. Finding the old man outside the room he asked,"Do you know how it happen?" The old man replied,"Sure is sad, poor guy was looking for his wife and got shot in his own apartment building, they wont say by who,but if you ask me it was probably them hoodlums that have been stabbing girls outside of Ramona's Night Club, everywhere needs to increase security its too much." "Really? that's a great idea.Thank you sir,for everything." "No problem sonny, oh here is a card for a Rudolf Brushiwitz he owns the building where it happen, I couldn't get a hold of Minerva she set up everything but she wasn't here today, but she said for family to talk to Rudolf about getting Charlies things." Clifford took the card and exchanged goodbyes with the man.
In his car he called Rudolf, "Hello Mr.Brushiwitz my name is Clifford Baxtor,I recently found out about the incident in your apartment complex,I'm an armed guard. I would like to apply for a security position if one is still available." He left his number then hung up. Looking up to the sky he said,"I made a promise Charlie and I'm going to keep it."...
