The sound of his heartbeat filled the room. "Is he going to make it doctor?" Analisette asked brushing away the tears from her eyes. The doctor took out the x ray's and held them to the light above their heads,"Well,It looks like he will the bullet entered his right shoulder and made an exit through his back.He's lucky it didn't hit any of his major organs or arteries.Right now hes in shock and needs rest, he should wake up in a few hours." Analisette looked down at Adrine then to the doctor,"Is it OK if I stay here until he wakes up?" The doctor did a quick nod then left the room. Analisette carefully dragged a nearby chair closer to Adrines bed sat down and held his hand. Speaking softly,"Your really stupid you know, doing what you did! I just got you back,you cant leave me so soon. The doctor said your gonna be OK its just gonna take time." She brought his hand to her face,brushing her cheek against the top of his hand,"I only dreamed of your touch,Only wished for the day when I could call you mine,Prayed for the moment we connected[she giggled]in ever form of the word."She placed her face in the palm of his hand and cried,"I wonder what your dreaming of after something so horrible."
The darkness began to fill his mind,leaving him believing he didn't make it. "Am I dead? If I am, I swear I'm going to haunt Charlie if he is alive!" Then a voice entered his mind,"Your going to be OK." It was faint but sounded exactly like his grandmother. Suddenly she appeared before him. Standing a little hunched at five foot and one inch with a baby blue night shirt and her favorite pink slippers. Smiling up at him,"Ay,papa you sure got yourself good this time." "I had to protect her Nana,she needed me."he said. She smiled brighter,"Oh that one,The beautiful poetic one.She is very important,you know." He became confused .How was Analisette important? How did she know? Where they meant to be? His grandmother began to walk away laughing sweetly. "Wait,where are you going?"he said chasing after her unable to get close enough. She turned around and began to disappear, "My lovely grandson,all answers will arise in time.You must wake." She was gone and the darkness was all that remained.
"Minerva,It doesn't look too good. The bullet is lodged in his lung and the other ruptured his stomach. I'm sorry, but its only a matter of time. I suggest you go in with the girls and say your goodbyes." The doctor said to Minnie with a sympathetic tone. She replied,"Thank you doctor.Me and the girls will do that now." Walking slower with each step the girls following suit they entered the room and saw him heavily breathing connected to multiple devices with his eyes closed. "Abby say your last words to your father."Minerva said without feeling. Abby nodded walked over and punched his arm,startled he woke up. "Abby?is that you sweetheart."he asked struggling to breathe. "I hated you ever since you did what you did to me.I asked god to kill you that day,and begged him every time you did it. I hope the devil finds proper punishment for your actions." Abby turned around and walked out of the room. Minerva looked down at Susie and told her the same as she told Abby. Susie walked over looked up at the bed and said,"Daddy hurt mommy,daddy not good.Bad daddy." Susie walked out to Abby. They were alone. Minerva walked over to Charlie and smiled at his state,there was nothing but fear in his eyes. "Look at you now,aren't so big and bad are you? On your way to the next life, I'm so jealous of you,at least you get to start over,you get a clean slate. Hope you don't make the same mistakes, or put another great woman through what you put me." She said as she dug through her bag,Charlie began to cry. "I got you something my love." She placed a can on the table right next to him and left the room. Getting closer to the light Charlie looked at the can that read,"Freshly Picked Green beans" then he looked up at the celling and said,"Forgive me Lord,for i have sinned." The machines went bizzurk and nurses and doctors rushed to the room. Minerva,Abby,and Susie exited the hospital and didn't look back.They were free.
Adrine opened his eyes to Analisette flipping through channels and drinking from a cup. "Damn, this is the life huh?" Adrine said to her. Her eyes widened and she nearly choked on her drink. "Easy mami easy, or you'll be here with me,your too important to me for that," Adrine said with a smile...
